We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes and offer a wide variety of other medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups.

In addition to everything you need to know about the practice you will also find a wealth of health-related information in the menu on the right hand side. 


Coronavirus: latest information and advice

This information has been provided by Public Health England.

Travellers from Wuhan and Hubei Province

If you have travelled from Wuhan or Hubei Province to the UK in the last 14 days you should immediately:

  • stay indoors and avoid contact with other people as you would with the flu
  • call NHS 111 to inform them of your recent travel to the area

Please follow this advice even if you do not have symptoms of the virus.

Travellers from elsewhere in China and other specified areas

This advice applies to travellers who have returned to the UK from the following areas:

  • China
  • Thailand
  • Japan
  • Republic of Korea
  • Hong Kong
  • Taiwan
  • Singapore
  • Malaysia
  • Macau

If you have returned to the UK from any of these areas in the last 14 days and develop symptoms of cough, fever or shortness of breath, you should immediately:

  • stay indoors and avoid contact with other people as you would with the flu
  • call NHS 111 to inform them of your recent travel to the country

Please follow this advice even if your symptoms are minor.


Prescriptions

Prescriptions can be very complex. For safety reasons and prevention of duplication, ALL prescriptions handed in at Smallthorne will be processed at our Bradeley site, and therefore not available for collection at Smallthorne.

Prescriptions can be:
  • managed by electronic arrangement with your chosen pharmacist if you arrange this with them
  • collected by your pharmacist if you arrange this with them
  • collected from the Bradeley site.

Self Certification Fit Note for less than 7 days

If you have been ill for 7 days or less you can complete a self-certification form yourself. Many employers have their own self-certification forms. If your employer doesn’t have its own self-certification form you can download one here. Please print it, fill it in and hand it in to your employer.

We no longer keep a supply of self-certificate forms in the surgery.


Weekend And Later Appointments

A new programme has been implemented to provide an extended access service for primary care with later and weekend appointments which will be offered at a different location to your usual GP surgery.This is called the Extended Hours Primary Care Services Programme.

OVER 60?

  • Did you know that bowel cancer is the second most common cancer in the UK.
  • If you are aged 60 - 74, and registered with a GP, you will automatically be sent a free kit to help detect bowel cancer early.
  • If you are 75 or over you can call 0800 707 60 60
